American Board Of Facial Plastic And
Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS) Certification

(Completion of a 2 day examination & a minimum of 100 facial plastic surgeries)
Applications for ABFPRS certification are open to both facial plastic surgeons and general plastic surgeons looking to specialize in facial plastic surgery. To date, approximately 500 AAFPRS members have been awarded additional certification by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

AAFPRS Fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery (optional)
1 year

Residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, including facial plastic surgery
4 years
(Otolaryngology study requires specialty training in head and neck surgeries only)

Residency in Plastic Surgery
2 years
(Specialty training in all body areas)
