The AAFPRS Foundation established a proactive research program for leaders in facial plastic surgery. Research grants and scholarship awards help facial plastic surgeons aim towards advancing industry knowledge and expertise. The AAFPRS Foundation believes that research enables our physicians to evaluate their practice objectively. It can provide important information about surgical trends and risk factors, outcomes of treatment and can also help patients make better informed decisions about their care and procedures of interest.

The FACE TO FACE (FTF) humanitarian programs allow AAFPRS members to use their surgical skills and expertise to help those who are in need domestically and abroad. All programs are conducted under the auspices of the Educational and Research Foundation for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS Foundation). The FACE TO FACE program provides low to no cost surgical procedures to children abroad with facial deformities caused by birth or trauma, domestic violence survivors in the US and veterans and active duty military members who were injured while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Provides pro bono medical and surgical expertise to veterans and active duty members who were injured while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Some veterans may have already received treatment in a military hospital while on active duty and may have been discharged. Others may have relocated to their home base and remain on active duty, being cared for by a DOD or VA medical facility. Some veterans may be from the National Guard or reserve, some may be geographically separated from a VA facility, and some may just want an additional caregiver consultation. Our volunteer surgeons are offering to help compliment the care that these facilities and medical staff provide, but we are not trying to compete with them. We want to help eligible veterans find a qualified surgeon with the best matched skills, and hopefully in a fairly convenient location.

The Educational and Research Foundation for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) representing certified members with expertise in facial plastic surgery has organized a medical mission to assist those with facial injuries suffered because of the Ukraine Conflict. We have partnered with local organizations in Ukraine and adjacent countries to share our expertise in management of complex facial injuries, and to send facial plastic surgeons into a safe environment where care can be provided to those who are injured and in need of our services. The mission, planned for mid-September 2022, is asking for your support to offset the cost off much needed medical supplies, equipment and inter-country security and travel. The services of our physicians are offered pro-bono.
