Harrison C. Putman III, M.D. is a distinguished leader in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. As a third generation Peoria area physician, Dr. Putman brings a legacy of dedication, professional skill and caring of nearly thirty years in his ongoing efforts to help patients look and feel their very best in a safe, comfortable and pleasant environment. Dr. Putman has devoted his practice to facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and regularly performs such procedures as rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, face and neck lift, endoscopic forehead and brow lift, liposuction, fat transfer, otoplasty, skin cancer reconstruction, scar revision and hair transplantation. He also has a particularly strong interest in the application of laser and light-based technologies, as well as other state of the art techniques for skin rejuvenation. He is exceedingly accomplished in the art of injectable fillers, as well as the administration of neurotoxins, such as Botox Cosmetic and Dysport.
Dr. Putman is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is an active fellow with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is also a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, as well as the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons.
Dr. Putman’s education includes a Bachelor of Science from the University of Notre Dame, and his Medical Degree from Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. His residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is also from Tulane University Medical Center and affiliated hospitals in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has hospital appointments at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Methodist Medical Center and Proctor Hospital, as well as Peoria Day Surgery Center. His current academic appointments include Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Illinois, as well as Associate Clinical Professor and Instructor in Facial Plastic Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology, SIU Medical Center, in Springfield, Illinois. Dr. Putman has served on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (2001-2007) as well as the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (2007–2011). He is an Oral Examiner and Senior Advisor for the ABFPRS and currently serves as Credentials Committee Chairman, Treasurer and Audit Committee Chairman for the ABFPRS. He is a participant in the ABFPRS Written and Oral Examination Development Committee, and is also active in academic activities and presentations at annual meetings of the AAFPRS. Dr. Putman received the Community Service Award from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2009, recognizing a lifelong commitment to helping the medically underserved in his own community and through pro bono programs sponsored by the AAFPRS. He has been an active participant in the National Domestic Violence Project, the Face to Face International Program, and the Faces of Honor Program for rehabilitation of injured veterans. He also serves on the Board of St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria, Illinois.
Dr. Putman has long been an advocate for public health and safety issues and has published numerous articles in health and community journals. His goal is to provide his patients with optimal level of care, achieving excellent surgical results that help to improve their overall appearance and improve their self-esteem. He takes an active role as an instructor in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery for residents and other physicians in training. The Facial Plastic and Laser Surgery Center which he directs is an AAAHC accredited state of the art outpatient medical facility and surgery center with adjacent overnight stay facilities at Peoria Day Recovery Care Center.
