Submalar and Malar
Augmentation
William J. Binder, M.D. (1998) 35:20 minutes. Dr. Binder's 37-year-old
patient is a female who wishes to have more fullness in her cheeks. Careful
dissection with proper instruments is illustrated. This nearly bloodless
dissection is similar in scope to malar augmentation with inferior extension
over the tendons of the massiter muscle into the submalar space. Through
use of the Smart hand Technique, Dr. Binder carefully controls
the limits of the dissection. Submalar implants are kept in place with
an externally tied suture around rolled dental gauze. His technique for
locating correct placement of the implants is clearly shown.
