Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the clinical and professional education needs of young physicians, residents, and medical students, in the fields of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, as well as for healthcare professionals involved in surgical and non-surgical treatments used to restore, enhance, and rejuvenate the face. The clinical program is developed for physicians at all experience levels and covers aesthetic, reconstructive and congenital issues related to this specialty.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to effectively: 
  • Comprehend the fundamentals and principles of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

  • Describe surgical procedures treatments that can be used to restore, enhance, and rejuvenate the face.

  • Assimilate new knowledge from presented research into his/her practice or research pursuits, as appropriate.

  • Assess acute and chronic facial paralysis, identify evidence-based surgical and therapeutic options, and apply best clinical practices to effectively manage this condition.

  • Describe current strategies in facial reconstruction. Recognize factors influencing outcomes in complex cases and apply surgical and perioperative approaches that optimize both functional and aesthetic results.

  • Review and recognize the many surgical and non-surgical techniques in Facial Rejuvenation and be able to adequately apply them to diverse clinical scenarios and patient populations, including younger and non-traditional patients.

  • Describe the concepts of Preservation Rhinoplasty and become aware of other new and current rhinoplasty techniques, as well as their indications for use.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies—including applications of artificial intelligence—in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery; recognize their benefits and limitations; and integrate evidence-based, ethically sound tools to enhance clinical decision-making, patient care, and practice operations.

  • Recognize challenges and barriers in gender-affirming care. Apply evidence-based guidelines, identify unique surgical techniques, utilize the best clinical approaches to provide comprehensive, quality care to transgender and gender-diverse patients.
