Clinical Research Scholarship

Available Scholarships
Each scholarship will be for $15,000. More than one scholarship per year may be awarded based on the approved annual budget for the Research Center. In addition, an individual may receive the scholarship for two years in a row if they are enrolled in a two-year degree program.

Eligibility
An applicant must be an AAFPRS member and must be pursuing training in the principles of clinical research. Fellows and Residents are not eligible to apply. The applicant must have a Letter of Acceptance from their Institution of choice before funds will be disbursed. If an applicant has already been accepted, they may apply for reimbursement of expenses up to the maximum of the scholarship. Funds cannot be applied retroactively.

To receive the funding for a second-year degree program, the recipient must demonstrate satisfactory progress during the first year of the course. The individual must submit a Progress Report including comments as to why they want to continue to the Research Center Committee for review and consideration.

Application for Scholarship
Applicants must complete the Clinical Research Scholarship Application . In addition, the individual must submit supporting documentation, including their Curriculum Vitae and two Letters of Support along with the application. If the applicant is an academician, one of the Letters of Support must be from the Department Chair.

Applicants must disclose any other scholarships or grants that have been received or that they are applying to fund similar education or to fund research.

Deadlines for Submission
All applications and supporting documentation must be submitted by January 15 or the first business day thereafter of each calendar year. Recipients will be notified by July 1 to be awarded in the next Academic year. Awardees will be officially announced each year at the AAFPRS Annual Meeting.

Review of Applications
Members of the Research Center Committee will review all applications. The Research Center Committee may request assistance from additional AAFPRS members if the number of applicants warrants additional review support.
