The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Elects Gulf Coast Facial Plastic Surgeon Fred G. Fedok, MD as 2016-2017 President

Washington, DC, – (October 11, 2016) — The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) is pleased to announce that Fred G. Fedok, MD, FACS has been elected President of the organization and will serve the 2016-2017 year term, taking office in October 2016. His practice focuses on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and neck, as well as nonsurgical techniques such as lasers, chemical peels, and fillers. He has extensive experience in the surgical rejuvenation of the aging face, rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty and management of facial trauma.

The AAFPRS is the world’s largest specialty association for facial plastic surgery. The organization seeks to educate medical professionals, government and the general public about facial plastic surgery as a specialty that requires intensive training and competence, embodies high ethical standards, artistic ideals, commitment to humanitarian service and a desire to enhance the quality of human life. Members have more comprehensive training in facial surgery than any other medical specialty.

Dr. Fedok is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. In addition to his affiliation with the AAFPRS, Dr. Fedok is also a fellow and member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. He is formerly the Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Chief and Professor of Surgery, Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Hershey Medical Center of the Pennsylvania State University, where he held the position through 2013. He is co-editor of the popular surgical textbook, “Minimally Invasive and Office-Based Procedures in Facial Plastic Surgery.”

In addition to running an innovative and thriving cosmetic surgery practice along the Gulf Coast, Dr. Fedok firmly believes in the continuing education of fellow facial plastic surgeons. He previously served as a Director-at-Large and as the Group Vice-President for Education on the Board of the AAFPRS.  He also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as the Accreditation Council for Post-Residency Specialty Education.

As AAFPRS President, Dr. Fedok will closely collaborate with other “core specialties” in the cosmetic surgery field, continue development of AAFPRS’ outstanding educational programs, including the online programs, partner with industry on research efforts, and explore avenues to add value to the loyal members of the AAFPRS.
