With many different types of aesthetic surgeons in practice today, it is important to make an informed decision when considering an elective or reconstructive procedure. If you are considering surgery of the face and neck, that area of expertise is facial plastic surgery. Find a surgeon who is board-certified in the correct field of expertise.
All AAFPRS members are board certified by a specialty board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. A majority are certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery, which includes facial plastic surgery. Others may be certified in plastic surgery, ophthalmology, or dermatology. In particular, an immense number of AAFPRS members have achieved board certification by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS), which requires prior certification by either the American Board of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery or the American Board of Plastic Surgery. For more than 30 years, the ABFPRS has been actively dedicated to improving the quality of facial plastic surgery available to the public by measuring the qualifications of candidate surgeons against certain rigorous standards.
I used to hide my injuries from domestic violence, but now I have the confidence to share my story so other women know they are not alone. Someone can help, and I’m so grateful for all the emotional and surgical support I’ve received from Dr. Garcia.
