THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF FACIAL PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY INSTALLS ANTHONY E. BRISSETT, MD, FACS AS 2025–2027 PRESIDENT

Washington, DC, (September 22, 2025) — Houston-based, double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Anthony E. Brissett, MD, FACS  is now the new President of The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). Dr. Brissett formally assumed his role on September 20, 2025, during the 2025 AAFPRS Annual Business Meeting in Los Angeles. He will serve as AAFPRS President for two years.


The AAFPRS is the world's largest specialty association for facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The organization seeks to educate medical professionals, the government, and the general public about facial plastic and reconstructive surgery as a specialty that requires intensive training and competence, embodies high ethical standards, artistic ideals, a commitment to humanitarian service, and a desire to enhance the quality of human life. 


Dr. Brissett is internationally recognized for his expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive facial plastic surgery. His clinical practice spans the full breadth of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, with particular specialization in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, trauma care, and reconstruction. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Dr. Brissett earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, followed by a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Minnesota.


Dr. Brissett currently serves as Professor of Otolaryngology at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is the Vice Chair of the Department of Head and Neck Surgery and Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital. Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Brissett is deeply committed to global healthcare and humanitarian efforts. As a board member of the Face the Future Foundation, he has demonstrated a long-standing dedication to building medical capacity and promoting sustainable healthcare solutions in countries around the world.

Dr. Brissett’s leadership will emphasize the recruitment and retention of members, the expansion and enhancement of educational offerings through the Education Reimagination Campaign, and the delivery of optimized member benefits. A key priority of his presidency also includes ensuring the long-term financial stability of the organization, laying a strong foundation for future growth and impact.
