AAFPRS Call for Recommendations for Elected Leadership Postions

President Sherard A. Tatum, MD invites voting members in good standing to recommend themselves or another AAFPRS Fellow member in good standing for consideration by the AAFPRS Nominating Committee for one of the open elected leadership positions. AAFPRS eligible voting members can recommend themselves (or submit another AAFPRS Fellow) for consideration by the 2024 AAFPRS Nominating Committee for one of the elected positions that are open below for the 2024 AAFPRS Elections. You or the person you recommend must be a Fellow member in good standing.

The AAFPRS Board of Directors is committed to an inclusive candidate selection approach (including considerations regarding gender, race, and ethnicity, as well as private and academic practice experiences). We encourage all qualified candidates to please share their interest with the AAFPRS Nominating Committee via the 2024 AAFPRS Elected Leadership Position Recommendation form..

Diversity, equity, engagement and transparency are important to the AAFPRS Board of Directors to ensure that a variety of voices within the membership are represented in the leadership.

AAFPRS Open Leadership Positions for the 2024 National Elections

The AAFPRS Nominating Committee under the leadership of the Immediate Past President and Nominating Committee Chair, Theda C. Kontis, MD will meet in the months of March and April to finalize a slate of proposed nominees for the open AAFPRS leadership positions listed below. The slate shall contain at least two Fellow members in good standing for each vacancy except — by two-thirds vote of the Nominating Committee — the slate may include one candidate for president-elect

  • President-elect
  •  Secretary-elect
  • Treasurer-elect
  • Group Vice President-elect for Membership and Society Relations
  • Three (3) positions on the Nominating Committee
  • One (1) position on the Audit Committee
  • Midwestern Region Credentials Committee Representative

2023 AAFPRS Election Results

October 28, 2023

During the 2023 AAFPRS Annual Business Meeting on Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada, a new slate of officers and elected committee positions were elected. The AAFPRS also installed Sherard "Scott" Tatum, MD as President of the Board. The results of the 2023 ballots cast regarding the candidate elections are listed below.

2023 AAFPRS Elections Packet

A special 2023 AAFPRS Election Information Packet  has been created to assist you in becoming familiar with the candidates. A print version of the packet will mail to the AAFPRS eligible voting members without email addresses. Please take the time in advance of voting to review the candidates so you can cast your votes and fulfill one of the most important actions you can take as an Academy member.

 
Additional nominations for the various offices may be made with prior written consent of the nominees by one or more written petitions signed by at least five percent of the voting members in good standing received by the secretary by June 1 prior to the Annual Meeting.
  • 5 percent of the voting membership in 2023: 58

Nomination and Election Dates

  • February 26: the 2024 AAFPRS Elected Leadership Position Recommendations deadline
  • May 1: AAFPRS Nominating Committee report distributed to voting members
  • June 1: Additional nominations for the various offices may be made with prior written consent of the nominees by one or more written petitions signed by at least five percent of the voting members in good standing received by the secretary
  • August 1: Notice of additional nominees mailed to the membership
