2026 AAFPRS Call for Recommendations for Elected Leadership Positions

President Anthony E. Brissett, MD invites voting members in good standing to recommend themselves or another AAFPRS Fellow* member in good standing for consideration by the AAFPRS Nominating Committee for one of the open elected leadership positions. AAFPRS eligible voting members can recommend themselves (or submit another AAFPRS Fellow*) for consideration by the 2026 AAFPRS Nominating Committee for one of the elected positions that are open below for the 2026 AAFPRS Elections. You or the person you recommend must be a Fellow* member in good standing.

*Please note: The Young Physician's Representative can be either a Member or Fellow in good standing and must be less than 40 years of age at the time of the elections.

Candidate Recommendation Considerations
It is very important to the AAFPRS Board of Directors that we ensure that the diversity of voices within our membership is represented in our leadership. We encourage all qualified candidates to please share their interest with the AAFPRS Nominating Committee via the 2026 AAFPRS Elected Leadership Position Recommendation form..

AAFPRS Open Elected Leadership Positions for the 2026 National Elections
 

The AAFPRS Nominating Committee under the leadership of the Immediate Past President and Nominating Committee Chair, Patrick J. Byrne, MD will meet in the months of March and April to finalize a slate of proposed nominees for the open AAFPRS leadership positions listed below. The slate shall contain at least two Fellow members* in good standing for each vacancy.

  • Group Vice President-elect for Diversity and Inclusion (one elected position to be filled)
  • Group Vice President-elect for Education (one elected position to be filled)
  • Group Vice President-elect for Research, Development and Humanitarian Programs (one elected position to be filled)
  • Midwestern Regional Director (IL, IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, OH, SD, WI) (one elected position to be filled)
  • Southern Regional Director (AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, OK, PR, SC, TN, TX, VA, VI, WV) (one elected position to be filled)
  • Young Physicians Representative (one elected position to be filled)
  • Western Region Credentials Committee Representative (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY) (one elected position to be filled)
  • Three (3) positions on the Nominating Committee
  • One (1) position on the Audit Committee

The Midwestern and Southern Regional Directors and the Western Region Credentials Committee Representative must be from one of the states listed above.

Nomination and Election Dates
  • January 16: 2026 AAFPRS Call for Recommendations for Elected Leadership Positions Opens
  • February 24: Deadline for the 2026 AAFPRS Call for Recommendations for Elected Leadership Positions
  • May 1: Nominating Committee report distributed to voting members
  • June 1: Additional nominations for the various offices may be made with prior written consent of the nominees by one or more written petitions signed by at least five percent (5%**) of the voting members in good standing received by the Secretary
  • August 1: Notice of additional nominees mailed to the membership

**NOTE: Five percent (5%) of the voting membership in 2025 equates to 63 voting members.
