2025 AAFPRS National Election Results

The AAFPRS conducted our 2025 Annual Business Meeting on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Los Angeles, CA from approximately 7:00AM to 8:30AM (PT). Included amongst the business items addressed at the meeting were the formal election of a new slate of officers, elected committee positions, and passage of 3 proposed bylaws amendments, as well as the Treasurer's report. The AAFPRS also installed Anthony E. Brissett, MD as President of the Board. The results of 2025 ballots cast regarding the candidate elections and proposed bylaws are listed below.

President-elect

Canadian Regional Director

  • Matthew D. Brace, MD


Eastern Regional Director

  • Manoj T. Abraham, MD


Western Regional Director

  • Jill L. Hessler, MD

The position of Western Regional Director concluded in a tie. Upon learning of the results, the two nominee spoke with each other and Dr. Myriam Loyo Li decided to decline the position; thereby elevating Dr. Jill Hessler to the position.

Nominating Committee (three elected positions to be filled)

Southern Region Credentials Committee Representative (one elected position to be filled)

  • Laura T. Hetzler, MD

2025 AAFPRS Proposed Bylaws Amendments Adopted

All 3 proposed bylaws amendments passed with greater than the required 2/3 vote, with percentages between 84.79% and 96.15%.

Nomination and Election Dates
  • January 2026: AAFPRS Call for Recommendations for Elected Leadership Positions
If you missed this year's call for recommendations, it will open again in January 2026 for the 2026 open elected leadership positions. You will have the opportunity to recommend yourself or another AAFPRS Fellow member in good standing for consideration by the AAFPRS Nominating Committee for one of the open elected leadership positions. You or the person you recommend must be a Fellow member in good standing.

Our Deepest Appreciation

The AAFPRS Board of Directors and Staff extends their deep appreciation to all members who propose themselves or another for an open elected leadership position, candidates who agree to run for office, members who generously volunteer their time, and to all members who vote. Voting in the elections is one of the most important responsibilities a member can take. We also thank the AAFPRS Nominating Committee for the diligence and time they undertake to recommend a qualified slate of candidates.
